Geevagh Gaelic football team has had mixed fortunes over the
last number of years. They were relegated to Junior level in 1997 but
won promotion to Intermediate level for the 1999 season by winning the
County Sligo Junior Football Championship in 1998. The team also won the
1998 Benson Cup. The club took part in the 1999 Connacht Junior
League
The club won the 1999 Intermediate Championship by defeating
local rivals St. Michael's in a replay by 4-9 to 2-7. This meant
promotion to Senior level for 2000. The club won the 2001 Kiernan and Foley Cups and currently play at
Intermediate level.
